About Me
Gerard Baladad is a Sound Engineer and Music Composer with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music Production and Sound Engineering from Middlesex University, London, in collaboration with Point Blank Music School, where he achieved First-Class Honours (Distinction), the highest grade in the UK grading system. He is also certified by Avid Technology in their industry-standard software, Pro Tools.
He worked as a Sound Engineer and Broadcast Sound Mixer at Qatar Television, responsible for mixing audio for news, stock exchange reports, game shows, interviews, and talk shows. Throughout his entire college studies, he served as a Sound Engineer Intern at Katara Studios, where he trained under Grammy-winning Sound Engineers and frequently participated in recording the world-renowned Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in professional studios and large concert halls.
Currently, he holds the position of Sound Engineer and Music Composer at Al Jazeera Media Network's Digital Division in Doha, Qatar, where he provides services in sound design, sound editing, sound reviews, music editing, mixing, mastering, recording, and music composition. Notably, he has composed sonic identities and music for various shows on Al Jazeera Media Network, including shows published by Atheer Platform and Al Jazeera 360 (AJ360).
In addition to his professional work, Gerard is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Music Production and Sound Engineering at Falmouth University, UK, in collaboration with dBs Institute.
Gerard is a multi-instrumentalist, proficient in playing the drums, guitar, piano, and bass. Notably, he recently served as the keyboardist for the Brazilian artist Luciana Maya during her concerts at the FIFA Fan Zone in Education City Stadium and The Backyard in Doha Golf Club. As a music composer, he crafted the score for "Dear Bassey," a short film directed by Emily Nkanga which garnered multiple awards at the Los Angeles International Film Festival.
