About Me

Gerard Baladad is a Sound Engineer and Music Composer with a Master of Arts in Music Production and Sound Engineering (with Distinction) from Falmouth University (UK), in partnership with dBs Institute of Sound and Digital Technologies. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music Production and Sound Engineering from Middlesex University, London, in collaboration with Point Blank Music School, where he graduated with First-Class Honours (with Distinction)—the highest grade in the UK grading system. He is also an Avid Certified Pro Tools User and Specialist, certified by Avid Technology in their industry-standard software, Pro Tools.

Gerard began his professional journey as a Sound Engineer and Broadcast Sound Mixer at Qatar Television in 2022, where he mixed live broadcast audio for news, stock exchange reports, game shows, interviews, and talk shows. Throughout his undergraduate studies, he also trained as a Sound Engineer Intern at Katara Studios, working under Grammy-winning sound engineers and assisting in recording the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra as well as renowned international artists in professional studios and concert halls.

He currently works as a Sound Engineer and Music Composer at Al Jazeera Media Network’s Digital Division in Doha, Qatar, where he handles recording, editing, mixing, mastering, sound design, and music composition. His music compositions have shaped the sonic identities of several programs across the network, including the official sonic logo of Atheer Platform and Syria Now. He has also composed original music for award-winning documentaries produced by Al Jazeera 360 (AJ360), such as Victims and Heroes, The Cost of War, Boycott, and Trials (Nelson Mandela Episode)—works that have reached millions of viewers and listeners around the world.

As a multi-instrumentalist, Gerard is proficient in drums, guitar, piano, and bass. He performed as the keyboardist for Brazilian artist Luciana Maya during her concerts at the FIFA Fan Zone in Education City Stadium and The Backyard in Doha Golf Club during the 2022 FIFA World Cup season. As a composer, he also scored Dear Bassey, a short film directed by Emily Nkanga, which received multiple awards at the Los Angeles International Film Festival.

Through every milestone, Gerard remains deeply grateful to God, whom he credits as the true and only source of his creativity, strength, and success.
